Gardens of the Moon: Chapter 15

Setting: Gadrobi Hills / Rhivi Plain / Dragnipur’s Warren

Summary

Hairlock attacks Paran and Toc, throwing Toc into an unknown Warren. From Darujhistan, Quick Ben watches the ambush then summons Sorry/Cotillion to deliver Hairlock to Shadowthrone.

Lorn explores the Hills and attacks Kruppe and co. Lorn injures Coll, Murillio wounds Lorn and Kruppe is incapaticated by her Otataral sword. Lorn and Crokus agree to stay away from each other. Sorry closes in on Crokus and prepares to kill him.

Quick Ben cuts the strings to Hairlock and all seven Hounds of Shadow arrive and destroy the puppet. Anomander Rake arrives and confronts the Hounds and Shadowthrone. He kills Doan and Ganrod with Dragnipur and forces Shadowthrone to recall Cotillion. Rake concludes that Paran is no longer Oponn’s pawn, but his sword still is. He advises Paran to get rid of the sword or break it if his luck ever turns.

Paran enters Dragnipur’s Warren by touching the blood of a dead Hound. A Hound challenges but does not kill him. He speaks to an unknown stranger who is chained by collar to a gigantic wagon like all others in the prison. He examines the collars and chains of the Hounds all the way to the underside of the wagon, finding no weakness. He calls upon Oponn through Chance. The male Twin says the chains are held in Kurald Galain. Paran uses the Twin as bait for the Hounds, and they plunge into portal to Kurald Galain. Paran finds himself back on the Plain but the bodies of the two Hounds are gone.

The now disoriented Sorry stumbles across the Coinbearer group. Coll thinks whatever possessed her is gone. Crokus and Sorry head for Darujhistan together.
