Further info: Thelomen Toblakai are a race of giants. They are incredibly effective warriors.

Thelomen Toblakai are one of the four founding races of Wu. They are genetically seperate from all Imass-based races (i.e. humans), and though Erikson does not go into detail about the facial features of such characters as Bellurdan, Karsa Orlong, or any of Orlong's companions, they are doubtless somewhat alien to human readers. The Thelomen Toblakai have decendants at the time of the Malazan Book of the Fallen; these are the TeblorBarghast , and Trell .

'Toblakai. A name of past glories, of a race of warriors who had stood alongside mortal Imass, alongside cold-meined Jaghut and demonic Forkrul Assail.'

HoC, UK MMPB, p.354

"As a Thelomen, I possess Jaghut blood, though of course Gothos would deny it."

- Bellurdan

GotM, US HC, p.237

'Your(Karsa's) kind walked this earth when the T'lan Imass were still flesh. From your blood came the Barghast and the Trell. You are Thelomen Toblakai.'

- Leoman

HoC, UK MMPB, p.262-3

"The armoured figure was enormous, three times a man's height at least"

HoC, UK mmpb, pg 538

Thelomen Tartheno Toblakai . . .

find the names of a people

so reluctant to fade

into oblivion . . .

Their legend rots

my cynical cast and blights

my eyes with bright glory . . .

‘Cross not the loyal cage

embracing their unassailable heart . . .

. . . Cross not these stolid menhirs,

ever loyal to the earth.’

Thelomen Tartheno Toblakai . . .

Still standing, these towering pillars

mar the gelid scape

of my mind . . .
