What did Hood ask Paran for?

We just don't know. That's clearly the way the author wanted it to be. We'll find out when he tells us.

Speculation includes the idea that Hood wants to die or otherwise retire, that he asked for a new card from the Master of the Deck, or that he wants Tavore's hand in marriage (yes, really).
