What happened to Heboric in BH?
In brief:
Heboric became Destriant to Treach in HoC, against his will. Although this granted him a major physical restoration, it didn't do him any favours on the mental side of things.
By the time we get to BH, he's travelling with Cutter and his bunch of hangers-on. The Unbound ambush the party and make very sure that Heboric is good and dead (they fail to do the same for the others). Although their real aim seems to have been the abduction of Felisin Younger, it was later explained (by L'oric? ref needed) that the Unbound killed Heboric first because he represented the greatest immediate threat.
So Heboric is dead, and that seems to be the end of his story.
Then things get a bit murky. It's the end of the book, a Jade Giant is falling towards the world, and Paran is desperate to stop it (understandably). He makes a bargain with Hood to free Heboric's soul (see What did Hood ask Paran for?).
Heboric's soul is liberated from Hood's realm, and he realises that he was never Destriant to Treach - he was the Shield Anvil. (Why was this? Pass). Heboric proceeds to somehow "embrace" the Jade Giant in the manner of a Shield Anvil taking the pain of others, thus preventing the impact and saving the world.
What next for Heboric? It's not revealed, but one theory is that Heboric will possess the body of Chaur, the simpleton friend of Barathol Mekhar, who fell in the sea near the impact area and (possibly) drowned at the same time as ghost-Heboric was doing whatever it was he did.
That wasn't that brief, and it wasn't very clear either. If we're lucky, it'll all make sense once we know more.

As of TtH the Chaur possibility doesn't seem very likely. Let's all hope the prattling bastard is gone for good.
