Who is in charge on these forums?

 

The site is run by a number of dedicated, talented individuals, collectively known as the mods, the list of current moderators can be seen by clicking the view forum leaders button at the bottom of the forums, but here is the list of the current moderators and their various areas of responsibility:

Administrators

 

Administrators (admins for short) run the forum, keep in contact with the site and forum host and provider, implement new features, dictate forum policy and many other tasks.

 

Anomander: Not to be confused with Anomander Rake, the former owner of the site, Anomander has been a long time admin.

 

Hetan: a site admin who looks after the forum on a day to day basis, smiting evil doers and keeping the forum in order. She is also a proof-reader and keeps us up to date on information from the publishers. Hetan is well-known for posting the prologues of upcoming novels when the publishers release it as a preview months before the novel's release. Hetan and Malaclypse are the current owners of the website and forum.

 

Malaclypse: Hetan's life-partner and another admin. Hetan and Malaclypse are the current owners of the website and forum.

 

Morgoth: A former moderator, now admin.

 

Silencer: a site admin and the overseer of The Malazan Project, a group operating seperate from the main site seeking to develop a Malazan-related computer-RPG.

 

Imperial Historian: another former moderator and the overseer of the Wiki projct, including the FAQ and Chapter Summaries, as well.

 

Zwitterion: Technical expert, called on when things go drastically wrong.

 

Theoderich II:  Technical expert, and designer and maintainer of the website.

 

Abyss: Thematically represented by a cat, Abyss has a large following on the forums known as his 'abyssmal army'. He is the arch-rival of Aptorian. Served as a moderator and then super-moderator until 2009 and was then promoted to Admin.

Super-Moderators

 

Super-Moderators have a similar role to moderators but with greater privileges and abilities for manipulating threads and users.

 

Rodeo Ranch: A canadian and a stoic believer in a man's right to wear no pants, rodeo faces the unenviable challenge of keeping order in the phoenix inn which he manages with as much aplomb as a man with no pants can. Known to change the usernames of users who attack him.

Moderators

 

Moderates supervise all the threads and other sections of the forum, deleting posts which breach forum rules, keeping order and deleting spam where it is inappropriate. 

 

Lisheo: 

 

Bubba: A picture-loving moderator who mostly moderates the General sub-forums.

Ex-Leaders

 

Aptorian: The arch-rival of Abyss, hailing from Denmark and generally has the highest post-count on the forum. Was promoted to moderatorism in 2008 but returned to the common folk in 2009.

 

Folken: also known as Jenny, is a former site admin. Grumpy and professing to be incredibly lazy, Folken maintained the website with Hetan and Anomander, smiting evil-doers and banning all those who crossed him. No longer an active member.

 

Caladanbrood: an ex-moderator who can be blamed when anything goes wrong. Always online brood can be contacted for friendly advice at all times to save the moderators work.

 

Anomander Rake: the former owner of the website and forum, no longer an active member.

 

Menandore: Also known as Godess Aurora.  Retired due to lack of time.
