Balgrid is a squad mage in the 9th Company, 8th Legion, 14th Army. Balgrid was originally part of the 6th Squad (marines), commanded by Sergeant Borduke. Following the Battle of Y'Ghatan, Balgrid was assigned to the 8th Squad under Sergeant Hellian.

In HoC and tBH, Balgrid is an illusionist using the Meanas mage. In RG, Balgrid is a necromancer using Hood's Path. See Series Inconsistancies.

"Illusions were usually one- or at best two-sided; seen from the other sides, well, there was nothing to see. True masters, of course, could cheat light in all directions, could fashion something that looked physically real, that moved as it should, casting its own shadow, even scuffing up illusional dust.
